Kistefos Art Museum

Kistefos Art Museum consists of an industrial museum, a sculpture park and an art exhibition.

The Industrial museum
The historical collection at Kistefos consists of buildings, machines, industrial fixtures and objects, which are used to convey stories of work and social life for the people who worked and lived at A/S Kistefos Træsliberi. In addition to the pulp mill, there are exhibitions to visit in the furnace house, the foreman's house, the wagon shed, the fire wagon house and the carpentry workshop.

The Sculpture park
Kistefos has 52 sculptures by prominent contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Claes Oldenburg, Olafur Eliasson, Anish Kapoor, Fernando Botero, Jeppe Hein, Tony Cragg, and Elmgreen & Dragset. The works range from the monumental to the unobtrusive, the profound to the playful. The sculpture collection is permanent and many of the sculptures are site-specific - meaning that the artist has created the artwork especially for Kistefos, directly inspired by the history, cultural heritage or nature of the place.

The Art Exhibition
Kistefos is delighted to announce the first solo exhibition in Norway of paintings and drawings by acclaimed British artist Hurvin Anderson. The exhibition focuses on Anderson’s celebrated Barbershop series as a lens through which to understand Anderson’s wider practice and unique sense of history, memory and place.
